What is a Battery mAh?

As a newbie to Electronic Cigarettes, it's easy to get confused with all of the eCig lingo and verbiage such as mAh.  Here are some common Q&A's for mAh to help you better understand the who, what, when and where of battery mAh.

What is mAh?

Milliampere-hours (aka mAh) - a capacity rating that measures how much current a battery will discharge over a specified period of time (typically a one hour period).

Does more mAh mean it will last longer?

Yes and no. When your battery has a higher rating of mAh, it usually means that the battery will last longer. Although, the amount of time your battery lasts depends on how and with what the battery is being used. For example, if you use the LAVATUBE with a 1600 mAh battery and a 3.0 ohm Tube Tank, you will get about 3 - 4 hours of usage before having to re-charge. Confused? It's impossible to give an exact time frame as to how long a battery will last since it depends on so many different factors such as voltage, ohms of your heating element, ativation time, frequency of use, etc.

Does the mAh of a battery change in time?

Yes, in time the mAh of a battery will change. Batteries usually have a ball park range as to how many times they can be re-charged before they need to be replaced.

Can I prevent the mAh of my battery from changing?

No, you cannot prevent the mAh of a battery from changing but you can help with prolonging its life although it takes a very watchful eye to do so. For example, if you take your battery off the charger within an hour before it completing its charge, it can aid in prolonging the life of the battery but will not prevent it from eventually needing to be replaced.  By using an intelligent charger, such as our XTAR WP2 II Multi-Charger (read specifications for batteries that can be used with this charger), that stops the charge going into the battery when the battery is fully charged you will keep the battery from getting damaged as well as prolong the life of the battery.  With proper care for your batteries, you will be able to prevent its life from ending sooner.

What mAh's are right for me?

This will depend on the frequency on which you vape. If you're a light vaper, you can go lower in the mAh of your eCig battery. If you are a heavier and more consistant vaper, you will want to go with an eCig battery with more mAh to decrease the amount of times you will need to charge the battery.
